How to add captions
- Start a caption project. Choose Video Captions and import your video using an available source option.
- Generate the transcript. Check the source and credit estimate, then submit your project for processing.
- Read along with the audio. Correct names, numbers, specialist terms, and punctuation. Check that the captions appear at the right moment.
- Style and export. Choose a legible font, size, color, and position. Review the video and export it with captions.
Make captions readable on a small screen
Try fonts, colors and outlines on a sample video in our free caption style playground.
Keep enough contrast between the words and the footage. A style that looks clear on a quiet background may be hard to read when the scene changes. Preview both bright and dark parts of your video.
Avoid covering faces, demonstrations, or important text. Leave room for the controls and overlays in the social app where you plan to post. Watch the exported file once before publishing.
Does captioning also find highlights?
The caption workflow is for a video you already want to keep. To turn a longer recording into shorter excerpts first, start with AI video clips, then review the captions on each selected clip.
Check the words before sharing
Automatic transcription can make mistakes, particularly with names, accents, background noise, or multiple people speaking at once. Editing the transcript is part of preparing the final video.
Available processing depends on your credits and subscription. See plans and credits before starting a project.
